Benefits

The Nation will provide all Classified or Court employees’ benefits that are required by law and will pay mandated contributions as required of an employer.  In addition, the Nation provides other benefits that are supplementary to an employee’s salary. Eligibility for voluntary benefit programs generally start after a new employee has successfully completed the probationary period.

Health Insurance — coverage under this program is voluntary.  The Nation pays the cost of health insurance premiums for employees and a portion of dependent premiums.  The plan includes medical and dental.  Employees signing up for the program within thirty (30) days of hire date are immediately covered; thereafter the employee is required to have a full physical examination.  Employees are strictly held to the policy provisions of the participating health provider.

Group Life Insurance — the Nation offers and pays for basic life insurance coverage for employees at twice the employee’s annual salary.  The plan includes accidental death and dismemberment benefits as defined by the coverage.  The employee may purchase greater coverage on a voluntary basis.

Retirement Plan — the plan is paid one hundred (100%) by the Nation.  Eligibility for membership begins at eighteen (18) years of age and after completing one thousand (1000) hours of work in a year.  Employees are one hundred (100%) percent vested after completing five (5) years of continuous service.

Savings Plan — the Nation has adopted and established a 401(k) Savings Plan for its employees.  Employees may contribute anywhere from one percent (1%) to thirty percent (30%) of their gross pay on a tax deferred basis.  The Nation matches every dollar an employee saves starting at 3% of an employees pay up to a maximum of four percent (4%).  Participants can decide how to invest their contributions and the Nation’s matching contributions in the Savings Plan.  The Plan offers five mutual funds and lets an employee choose how to allocate their savings amount the funds.  Participants may also request a loan from their Savings Plan up to 50% of the account balance while employed with the Nation.  The 401(k) designation or program is allowed under the Federal Internal Revenue Code.
