Community Police Officer
Description

The Community Police Officer (COP) will enforce the Nation's Law & Order Code on the Jicarilla Apache Reservation, perform crime prevention, enforce local traffic regulations, provide protection support and emergency assistance. COP will work various shifts including weekends, holidays and be subject to call back on regular days off. Community policing involves the importance of the active partnership between the police, schools, businesses, housing, youth programs and other agencies of the Jicarilla Apache Nation to work together in identifying and solving problems to improve the overall quality of life as a whole crime prevention.

Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or GED Certification (Attach Copy) 2. Two (2) years community policing or related experience (REQUIRED). 3. Combination of education, experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities for this position. 4. Must posses a Valid State Drivers License  (Attach Copy) 5. Must be able to to obtain clearance for a Nations Drivers Permit thru SAMBA. 6. Must possess a Police Certification as Peace Officer. 7. Satisfactorily pass the Field Officer Program (TFO) within 180 days probation period. 8. Must posses certification thru the N.M. Law Enforcement Academy or must attend required accredited Law Enforcement Academy within One (1) year from date of hire (Attach copy)  9. Must obtain a New Mexico State Police Commission, Pursuant to 29-1-11NMSA 1978. (Attach Copy) 10. Must be Twenty-One (21) years of age or older. 11. Must submit a blank money order in the amount of $45.00 with your application. Meet with HR Representative to complete fingerprinting for the background check. 12. Complete “Release of Information” Form. 13. Complete “Criminal Records Release” Form and submit to the Nation’s Court. 14. Must successfully pass a background check, psychological test, physical agility test, drug test, written test and an interview before the Police Review Board. 15. Never been convicted of a felony. 16. Never been convicted of any misdemeanor within One (1) year to date of application, including DUI and never been convicted of a felony. 17. Never been convicted of any misdemeanor or felony domestic violence in any jurisdiction. 18. No major traffic violation or a record of suspension or revocation of driver’s license within the past year. 19. Subject to mandatory and random drug testing. MEDICAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL: • Must successfully complete a medical and psychological examination.
