Under general direction, supervises, plans and coordinates the activities and operations of assigned law enforcement division within the Jicarilla Apache Police Department; Administers operations and prepares and evaluates field and staff reports; Conducts internal investigations; Performs sworn police duties in the prevention of crime and the enforcement of law and order public safety and the protection of life and performs related work as required; Coordinates assigned activities with other division, departments and outside agencies and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to higher ranks, as assigned.
1. Bachelors Degree from an accredited or university with major course work in Criminal Justice, Criminology or Police Science HIGHLY PREFERRED (Attach copy) 2. Five (5) years of increasingly responsible law enforcement experience. 3. Five (5) years of Supervisory experience REQUIRED with proof of supervisory training certifications. (Attach Copies) 4. Must possess a Valid State Drivers License (Attach Copy). 5. Able to obtain clearance for Nation Drivers Permit through SAMBA Check (Complete Form & Attach) 6. Certification from BIA Law Enforcement Academy REQUIRED (Attach Copy). 7. Certification from NM Department of Public Safety Academy REQUIRED (Attach Copy) 8. Certification from NM Peace Officer REQUIRED. (Attach Copy) 9. Certification from NM State Police Commission. REQUIRED (Attach Copy) 10. Copy of current Physical/Medical Examination REQUIRED (Attach Copy) 11. Must possess certification in various fields of Law Enforcement, Supervisory Enforcement, Police Command and Management, Criminal Investigation, Juvenile Investigations Communications, Jail Operations, Patrol, Special Operations and Animal Control, Incident Command Management, National Incident Command Management Systems, Emergency Operation Planning and Homeland Security. (Attach Copy) .12. Must submit a blank money order in the amount of $45.00 with your application. Meet with HR Representative to complete fingerprinting for the background check.13. Complete “Release of Information” Form.14. Complete “Criminal Records Release” Form and submit to the Nation’s Court. 15. Must pass a background and submit to random drug testing. 16. Must have never been convicted of a misdemeanor within One (1) year to the date of hire. 17. Must not have been convicted of a felony crime in any jurisdiction since reaching the age majority.
